Christine Strike

Wife, Mother, Prairie Girl, Artist

Christine is a multi disciplinary artist focusing on Ceramics and Painting. She has her BFA Honors from the University of Manitoba. Her passion is depictions of landscapes and vegetation as well as functional pottery. Having lived her whole life in Winnipeg, with a brief stay in England, she takes inspiration from the prairie landscape and her weekly visits to cottage country in the Canadian Shield. Outdoors is the best place for her to reset, be positive and grateful. Her work explores the joyful feeling she gets from nature with its bold colours and the darkness experienced before the reset.

She prefers to work in acrylics for their immediacy and work-ability and watercolours for their flow and transitions. Art fulfils a need within herself to make, express, and explore what she sees around her and share that view with others. She is inspired by impressionism, realists, and the therapeutic process of creating using traditional techniques infusing a bit of herself into her works.
